The Primary is Here!

Hi Everyone,

The Primary is upon us and Early Voting begins on Saturday, June 13.
Here in Mt Pleasant the voting location is the Mt. Pleasant Community Center at 125 Lozza Drive in Valhalla.

Lozza Drive is off Columbus Ave, 1 traffic light north of Stevens and Mt. Pleasant Town Hall. Once on Lozza, look for the MPCC sign that will direct you to the area of the Community Center and Water Dept. The Community Center will be to your right. There is plenty of parking.

Tuesday, June 23, 6 am - 9 pm is the Primary Election.
If you haven't received a card from the Board of Elections telling you where to vote, please check with them. They have consolidated some voting sites so your usual location may not be operational. You can check using the link on the BOE website (This may not work. I tried it and it couldn't find my polling site.) Or you can call them at: 914-995-5700. Or you can use the League of Women Voters polling site finder at:

Absentee Ballots
My understanding is that we can still request Absentee Ballots, even if we didn't respond to the request application sent out a few weeks ago. Check out this Board of Elections page for more information:

If you've received an Absentee Ballot, please complete it and put it in the mail. You may also hand deliver it to the Early Voting site. Must be postmarked by June 22.

I know this can feel overwhelming, but we're learning a new system during a pandemic. I have every confidence that we're gonna do this!

Stay safe. Wear a mask - they're required to enter a polling place. Otherwise they're just a really good and responsible idea.

2020 Census Job Opportunities

Owen Borda, who gave a 2020 Census presentation to IP last fall, has asked that I share the following information with you. So if you know of someone looking for a summer job - or if you'd like one, you can get more information on June 16 at 2 pm through a webcast. You have 4 links to choose from. So....

Upcoming Live Video Chat: Immediate Job Opportunities with 2020 U.S. Census

Know of someone who is looking for an immediate job opportunity? Please join Asaph Boldgett, supervisory recruiter with the New York Regional Census Center, when he joins Zachary Lange, a census response representative, and Jason Chapin, director of workforce development with the Westchester County Association, to chat about immediate job opportunities with the U.S. Census and how you can apply. The job pays $23 an hour, the hours are flexible, and 1,900 additional workers are needed between now and December! Learn how you can help ensure everyone is counted, which helps to determine how much federal money Westchester receives for healthcare, housing, education, and transportation. The live chat is on Tuesday, June 16th at 2 p.m. Please share this with others who might be interested and bring your questions!
