SERVICE PROJECT UPDATE: Ossining Open Door

Thanks to everyone who donated to and/or volunteered for this month's service project! Ossining Open Door was thrilled with all the donations we delivered. To give you a sense of what Indivisible Pleasantville collected for this drive, here's a partial list:

  • 1,684 diapers
  • 5,040 wipes
  • 10 first aid kits
  • 20 infant toys
  • 20 sleep sacks and gowns
  • 40 onesies
  • 15 board books
  • 20 bibs
  • plus assorted outfits, socks, and toiletries
A handful of us gathered to assemble 10 boxes--which include a mattress and can be used a bassinet--and then fill the boxes with all of these necessities. These boxes help to support new moms who don't have the resources for even such baby basics. Open Door provides support during the pregnancy and postpartum--including services like nutrition counseling and home visits--and the baby boxes are an essential part of that programming.

The surplus of our donated items will be used for future baby boxes (OD distributes these boxes on a regular basis). If you're interested in volunteering, contact to be put in touch with the coordinator.

Again, thanks to all of you! I truly appreciate the generosity of time, effort, and spirit that I see in this group.
