SERVICE PROJECT: Ossining Children's Center

Please sign up to volunteer at Ossining Children's Center—let's show our vulnerable neighbors that we want to support them. Any time you can contribute would be greatly appreciated! If none of the times/dates listed work for you, please contact Justine Fontinell and she'll do her best to arrange with the staff for something different for you.

ACTION ITEM: Early Childhood Education Funding

We are asking Gov. Cuomo to (1) add $100 million in new funds to the state budget for subsidized childcare and (2) to not take funding away Adult Protective and Domestic Violence Services. We will call the governor and send postcards (or letters, if you'd prefer).

Phone Call Instructions

  • Call the Governor’s office at 518-474-8390.
  • Wait for the (long) announcement to finish; when prompted, press 2 to speak to an “agent.”
  • Voice Message Script:
“I have a message for the governor about the budget. Please add $100 million IN NEW FUNDS to the state budget for subsidized childcare. This will enable thousands of eligible children not currently served to get the child care subsidy AND it will allow implementation of the new federal regulations to improve childcare for all children in our state, no matter their family income.
“Please DO NOT take funding from Adult Protective and Domestic Violence Services or any other Title XX [Title 20] fund services to pay for childcare. All Title XX budget lines are important social priorities; a funding increase in one should not mean a loss to another. Thank you.”

Postcard Instructions

Address postcards to:
The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo
Governor of New York State
NYS State Capitol Building
Albany, NY 12224

Sample text for postcards:
