Monthly Service Project Update: HVCS Benefit Drive

Success! We just delivered a rather astonishing amount of food, toiletries, and cleaning products to Hudson Valley Community Services. Four SUVs' worth! It's hard to tell from this picture, but the pile of goodies was about three feet deep behind this on the loading dock. What a testament to the generosity of our community!

I did inventory everything that was collected, so here's a sampling:
  • 150 bars of soap
  • 60 pounds of pasta and rice
  • 60 cans of tuna and chicken
  • 40 cans of soup
  • 50 cans of veggies and beans
  • 30 tubes of toothpaste
  • 45 toothbrushes
  • 20 pounds of oatmeal
  • 30 bars of deodorant
  • 150 rolls of toilet paper and paper towels
  • 30 jars and cans of pasta sauce
  • 35 household cleansers
  • Plus: nuts and nut butters, dried fruits, shampoos, dish soaps, laundry detergents, tissues, and so much more!
I'm incredibly proud of our town and our Indivisible group. It's thrilling to see everyone come together to help neighbors in need. Thanks to everyone who donated (via the Amazon wish list or in our collection bins), thanks to everyone who hosted a drop-off site, and thanks to Margaret, Alison, and Patrick for helping me deliver everything today!
